Using a series of basic controls, you can influence the way with which that determination is made. In other words, Logic will analyze the file automatically for you, and then using the visual aid provided, we can adjust the Threshold, Minimum Time, Pre-Attack, and Post-Release settings to ensure it is only removing the parts of the file we want. At which point, the audio region will then get automatically chopped up — the original performance otherwise untouched — into new regions with all of the unwanted or noisy areas in the original selection removed.

Threshold is how we adjust the sensitivity. It is used to define the amplitude or loudness a waveform must exceed in order to be considered a region, as opposed to noise that will be removed. In other words, you can use this control in tandem with the visual aid to determine what parts of the audio region to keep and what to remove represented by the grayed-out portions as seen above.

You can think of the following three perimeters as ways to fine-tune the setting you have made on the Threshold. Minimum Time to accept as Silence is used to define the length of time an area of your selected audio region must be under the set Threshold to be considered noise. Pre-Attack Time and Post-Release Tim e allow us to adjust to beginning and end point of each of the newly created regions.

We can use these controls to add a little bit of extra time before and after the new regions in order to ensure none of the good stuff gets deleted or chopped off with the rest of the unwanted noise. Note: None of the selections or alterations made via the Remove Silence in Logic will change the timing or position of the audio in the project. These plugs have repeatedly saved my ass when I had to clean up and breathe new life into some cranky mellotron and grimy fiddle tracks!

I have saved numerous tracks that were believed to be unusable. This is a MUST in the toolbox. X-Noise is a must-have to eliminate that background noise and it can enhance your audio dramatically. Analyze a section where the background noise is present and pull up the threshold fader above the input and slide up the reduction fader until the background noise is gone.

Similar to the new EQ’s or Bass Amp stuff.. When you hold down Option and click on a channel strip button The selections there will replace the FX in a strip but not the instrument plugin itself Question: Q: Logic X More Less.

So, who is this plugin for? But, if you need something to quickly clean up a recorded or live piece of audio, Bertom Denoiser is worth looking into. The plugin provides very decent results while being easy to use and very light on CPU consumption. Both bit and bit plugin hosts are supported. Not excactly the optimum recording environment! Could really had a use for this then! Oh well, next time! Hi Tomislav, I hope you are well and safe. Any ideas why? Question: Q: Logic X More Less. Denoiser eliminates or reduces any noise below a threshold volume level. Denoiser uses Fast Fourier Transform FFT analysis to recognize frequency bands of lower volume and less complex harmonic structure. It then reduces these low-level, less complex bands to the appropriate dB level.

If you use Denoiser too aggressively, however, the algorithm produces artifacts, which are usually less desirable than the existing noise.

If using Denoiser produces these artifacts, you can use the three Smoothing knobs to reduce or eliminate them. See Denoiser controls in Final Cut Pro. For information about adding the effect and showing its controls, see Add Logic effects to clips in Final Cut Pro. Locate a section of the audio where only noise is audible, and set the Threshold value so that only signals at or below this level are filtered out.

Play the audio signal, and set the Reduce value to the point where noise reduction is optimal but little of the appropriate signal is reduced. If you encounter artifacts, use the Smoothing controls.

Locate a section of the audio where only noise is audible, then set the Threshold slider to a dB value that filters only signals at or below this level. Reduce slider and field: Set the amount of noise reduction applied to signals that fall below the threshold.

Aim for a Reduce slider value with which noise reduction is optimal but little of the music or vocal signal is reduced. Each 6 dB reduction halves the volume level, and each 6 dB increase doubles it. This reduces the noise by more than 10 dB, to less than half its original volume.

Graphic display: Shows how the lowest volume level signals in your audio material, which are mostly or entirely noise, are reduced. The application comes packed with a variety of features necessary for professional use. It ranges from software instruments, audio effects to recording facilities.

Unfortunately, despite its brilliance the app is only available on iOS devices. That does not bode well for Windows users. While that means you cannot install the app directly on any Windows PC, there is another way round. As we have mentioned, you cannot install the app directly on your PC. For that you need to take the route of a virtual machine. Here is what you need to do:. So to ensure smooth running of the app, it would be better to check whether your device meets the following requirements.

Despite an arduous installation process, the app is worth every bit the hardship. It carries great features which are beneficial for beginners as well as professionals. It does a lot more than just cutting, trimming and joining audios. If you feel Logic Pro is a bit too much, then opt for Audacity. Considering its features, the app is also a very good substitute you might try. It is free to download and provides you with a multitude of features.
